TAY KAI TZE

Oboe

Tay Kai Tze is a Singaporean Musician and Educator. As one of Singapore’s busiest free-lance Oboist, he regularly performs as Principal Oboe with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, the ReSound Chamber Orchestra, the Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, the Philharmonic Winds, the Ensemble de la Belle Musique and the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM).

Kai Tze decided to study the oboe professionally at the age of 22 and within 3 years, he obtained his Grade 8 with Distinction). In the same year, he was accepted into Emmanuel Abbuhl’s (Principal Oboe, London Symphony) class at the Rotterdam Conservatory. Following this, he went on to the Sydney Conservatorium to study under Diana Doherty and Alexandre Oguey (Principal Oboe & Principal Cor anglais, Sydney Symphony).

Equally passionate about Music education, Kai Tze now also spends much time guiding and mentoring young music students and oboists. Aside from teaching in various Schools, Kai Tze is a tutor with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO), the National University of Singapore Wind Ensemble and sits on the Wind Bands Association of Singapore Committee. ​
